Individual Instruction

General Classroom/Event Space Information

We have a small classroom space at 4206 East 34th St in Minneapolis with 6 wheels, a slab roller, an electric kiln, and a variety of glazes to choose from. Regardless of what type of class you decide to take, the pieces you make will be fired at Dock 6 by our staff and be ready for you to pick up about 2-3 weeks after completion of the class. All students should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Clay washes out so your clothes will not get ruined. Tying back your hair and trimming your long fingernails are recommended. All materials, equipment, and firings will be provided and included in the cost of your class. Just bring your lovely selves, ready to have fun!

Individual Instruction:

We offer two different ways to have private instruction:

A: You can take a one-time lesson just to get your feet wet (or your hands dirty!). With this option, you will be introduced to the basics of either wheel-throwing or hand-building, and will work one-on-one with the instructor. It’s a great opportunity to get intensive instruction tailored just for you. Whatever you make and decide to keep will be finished by the instructor (with your instructions as to glaze choice, etc.) and available to pick up 2-3 weeks after your lesson. You can take this one-time lesson as either a 1-hour private session for $75, or a 2-hour private session for $125.

B: You can buy a set of three private sessions: 3 one-hour sessions for $180 or 3 two-hour sessions for $300. You would schedule your private instruction directly with your instructor to work with your schedule, but the 3 sessions must be completed within 45 days of your initial lesson. Generally speaking, these three sessions would be divided into wheel-throwing or hand-building techniques, trimming and finishing (putting on handles, finishing the bottom, etc., once the piece is dry enough to handle), and glazing. This is a great opportunity to get a feel for the entire process and play a larger role in the piece at every step of the way. Your finished work will be available for pick up 2-3 weeks after the conclusion of your last lesson.

We’d also love to hear from you about what you’re looking for! Do you have a special class/event you’d like to make happen? We’d like to know about it and we’ll do all we can accommodate your request.
