About Dock 6 Pottery
Where's the boat? No, it's not that kind of dock. When Dock 6 Pottery started in 1995, we were a collective of four potters looking to share space and expenses. Our first location was in a building with a long strip of loading docks and you had to enter through loading dock number 6 in order to reach our studio. We have moved many times since, but the name has stuck.
The original 4 potters have each gone their separate ways and Dock 6 Pottery is now a studio and gallery in south Minneapolis in the Longfellow neighborhood. Kerry Brooks, one of the original four, runs the place but has a few others working there with her and sells the work of Colleen Riley (also one of the original four), Reg Behrens, Wanda Scanlon, and Judah Birkland.
Kerry Brooks has been a potter since 1988. She learned to throw in Ann Arbor, MI and has been working as full-time studio potter in Minneapolis, MN since 1997. She works primarily in wheel-thrown, high-fired stoneware. Her pots are fired to about 2400 degrees in a natural gas kiln so pieces without fused glass can be used in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Pots with fused glass are primarily decorative but can be used with dry foods and should be hand-washed. All of Kerry's pots are durable and they will not lose their vibrant colors over time. She hopes you will enjoy her pottery for both its function and its art.
Kerry's hours at the studio/gallery can vary so it's best to call first, but they tend to be M-F 9-5 and Sat. 11-3.
