HANDBUILDING

Perfect for families and friends who want to spend quality time together and play with clay!
Hand-building techniques often give makers more control and freedom to be creative than the pottery wheel!
Our talented instructors will show you how to make your project ideas come to life! We have a variety of texture tools and different methods to make functional dishware or fun sculptures! Make up to 4 pieces and use colored slips to paint during class!
Weekly Pottery Classes
Build Your Skills
Experience the full ceramic process through a multi-week pottery wheel or handbuilding class.
Over the course of four or six weeks, you’ll learn how to shape, decorate, and glaze your own pottery with guidance from an experienced instructor. Your class meets at the same time each week, beginning on the date you select during registration.
Your class fee includes:
Clay
Tools
Access to a variety of Cone 6 glazes
Guided instruction throughout the ceramic process
Students may use the studio during their scheduled class time
Pottery Wheel + Handbuilding
The date you select and submit payment for will be the first session of your 4- or 6-week class. Classes meet weekly with their instructor at the same time.
These classes will show students how to make, decorate, and glaze their very own pottery. It’s a great way to experience the full ceramic process with guided instructions.
Class fee includes everything you need! Students will have access to clay, tools, and a variety of Cone 6 glazes!
These weekly classes also include one free rescheduling in case something comes up and you can’t make it to one of the class sessions. Please note that, due to scheduled kiln firings, we can't accommodate all rescheduling requests. Email us to inquire about rescheduling.
Because of limited seats and classroom availability, a $20 rescheduling fee applies to a second or later rescheduling request.
Students will not have studio access outside of their class time.

4 Week Intro-Beginner:
Pottery Wheel

Four x 2h class sessions
(Max 8 participants per class)
Learn the basics of wheel throwing and the ceramic process from start to finish. Each week will focus on a different step of making ceramics.
Week 1- Intro to Throwing: demos + step-by-step instruction, individual work time, clean-up (last 15-20 minutes of class)
Week 2- Review of Throwing: demos + step-by-step instruction, individual work time, clean-up (last 15-20 minutes of class)
Week 3- Intro to Trimming: demos + individual work time, clean-up
Week 4-Intro to Glazing: demos + individual work time, clean up
Each student can make a maximum of 15 pieces.
6 Week -Beginner-Intermediate:
Pottery Wheel + Handbuilding
$385 / person
Six x 2h class sessions
(Max 8 participants per class)
*Recommended after completing 1-2 intro/beginner classes
Have you taken a pottery class and want to keep improving your skills and the overall ceramic process? Take this class to better control the clay and challenge your form-making!
Students can take self-directed lessons for the first 4 days, allowing them to dive into areas they want to focus on, whether that means practicing new forms, mastering handles, exploring slips, or other surface techniques!
Week 1 - Throwing
Week 2-4 - Trimming + Throwing
Week 5 - Trimming + Handbuilding
Week 6 - Glazing
Each student may make up to 30 pieces, with a maximum of 4 pounds of clay.
4 Week Beginner-Intermediate:
Special Topic: Big Bowls!

Interested in livin' large and throwing larger forms? This is the class for you! In this special topics class you will learn how to throw big bowls and navigate larger amounts of clay. Previous throwing experience is required.

Read Our Class Policies
Weekly classes include one complimentary rescheduling opportunity if you need to miss a session. Because our kiln firings follow a set schedule, we cannot guarantee we can accommodate every rescheduling request.
Additional rescheduling requests are subject to a $20 fee due to limited classroom space and availability. Please email us to ask about rescheduling.
