Whether you’re planning a celebration, spending time with friends, or simply looking for a relaxing way to get creative, Dock 6 makes it easy to create one-of-a-kind pottery—no experience necessary.

Walk-ins are welcome all week, but reservations receive seating priority.

Reservations are encouraged, especially for groups. When booking, please adjust the reservation quantity to include everyone in your party. We cannot guarantee seating for guests who are not included in the reservation.

Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by at least one adult for every six children.

Celebrate at Dock 6

Looking for a creative way to celebrate a birthday, bring your team together, or spend time with your favorite people? Host your next gathering in our Paint Your Own Pottery studio.

Simply reserve enough seats for everyone in your group. Groups with fewer than 22 painters may share the studio with other guests. To make the entire space yours, reserve all 22 seats.

Planning a children’s party? We ask that at least one adult attend for every six children

FAQs

  • We always take walk-ins if we have space, but reservations take priority. We highly recommend making a reservation if you’re planning to come in on a weekend or have a large party.

  • No. However, Dock 6 Pottery’s Classroom just next door offers both wheel-throwing and hand-building classes if you are interested in making your own pottery from start to finish! Visit our classes page to learn more.

  • Our reservations are for 2 hour time slots, but if there are no reservations after, you are welcome to stay longer. How long you take is largely dependent on what you plan to create and the level of detail, but in general, adults spend around 1-3 hours per piece, while kids tend to take 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Each piece of bisqueware is individually priced. Our most popular items are between $6-$40, with many options below $25. The price will vary depending on size and if it’s handmade or not. We also charge a $10 studio fee per person per session to cover the costs of glazing and firing.

  • The handmade line of bisqueware was hand-thrown by the Dock 6 team right here in Minneapolis! Because it’s handmade, you’ll find variations from piece to piece, but that’s part of the charm. Handmade pieces are signed or marked with a Dock 6 stamp identifying them as handmade.

    Our standard line of bisqueware is slipcast making each piece identical. These are not made by the Dock 6 team.

  • Yes! Once fired, all of our glazes are food and beverage safe. They are also microwave and dishwasher safe, although we recommend handwashing to extend the life of your piece.

  • Our staff will apply a coat of clear, food-safe glaze and fire it!

    We’ll contact you with the information you gave us when you checked in to let you know when they’re ready to pick up. This should take about 2-3 weeks. It’ll be bagged with your name on it when you come back to pick it up!

  • You are welcome to bring your non-alcoholic drinks with you when you come to paint. We discourage food (exception for parties) as grease and mess can cause problems with the paint. Alcoholic drinks are only allowed during scheduled wine nights.

  • Yes! Seniors (65+) get 15% off of their bisque whenever they come in!
    During the summer (June-Aug) kids (16 and under) also get 15% off of bisque.

  • If you don’t finish, you can come back another day to finish painting. You will need to pay an additional studio fee ($10).

  • Yes! Cost to ship is $10 per person for in-state shipments, $20 per person for out-of-state shipments.
